My Crazy Obsession With Angela Aki

The first ever CD album I bought was Ayumi Hamasaki's A-BEST... I was 9 years old back then... 1997 was the year whereby Japanese culture "manifested" in Singapore... It was crazy... Alot of people were into Japanese dramas, Japanese animes and of course Japanese songs! I'm definitely one of them...

I can say I have quite a decent collection of Japanese songs... Having heard so much of them... Angela Aki's got to be the BEST! No one beats her during live... She sings and plays the STEINWAY & SONS piano... Do you know how tough it is to sing brilliantly whilst playing the piano? I've watched all her live performances I could find online and I have to say it was PERFECT! (She's even better during live performances)

Chanced upon her songs when I was in HMV 2 years ago... The song was called "One Melody"... I stopped and listened... When the song came to the chorus, in my mind I was thinking, "OMG! This has to be one of the SUPERDUPER nice Japanese songs I've heard in a while..." It was so nice that I even took a picture of the album and went home to find the songs... And there's where my crazy obsession begun...

I repeatedly listened to her songs over and over again for more than a year... It was like an addiction... I even publicised her songs to my friends in Poly and Ayrton(my online friend)... Not to mention that even Timo's Dad was impressed with the talent and bought ALL her past albums... Uncle even gave me this small booklet that consisted pictures of her past concerts & performances... It was really a nice gesture!

She would have been very famous in Singapore if she were to appear during the craze... Now that the craze has died down, it's really hard for artists like her to shine in this petite Singapore industry...

Isn't she pretty? Haha!

Now that I've made my black specs for army... I feel "closer" to her... :) She's an inspiration to why I'm being so persistent to buying a piano... I wanna be a great pianist like her... (not the classical ones)
