I somehow got an idea how university application works in Singapore... As Poly students get to apply for university first... The application submitted is more or less classified under 3 categories...
1)People who managed to hit the cut-off points and are immediately offered a position in University...
2)People who are placed under consideration from the university... These people are currently in "pending" progress... They are required to submit their final tabulation of GPAs for further considerations... If GPA goes up, chances of getting in increases... While this group of poly students wait for the final outcome, universities will start enrolling JC students depending on the intake... if JC applicants decrease (which most probably doesn't happen), Poly students (who are obviously the less priority here) are filled in...
OR
the university MAY compare the JC students (who gets shit grades for 'A' levels) with the Poly students (who did okay with their Poly results with at least a GPA of 3.2-3.4)
Well... I'll rather they take Poly students... That's of course coming from my own point of view... Haha... Poly students who recieved grades like this (3.2-3.4) often realize that a Diploma is not good enough to survive in this industry... I've seen alot of changes in my friends this past few years... Although some were late in realizing this, the amount of potential and improvement is great! What would happen if they were granted another year?
I felt that it was really a pity for some of my friends especially Hannah... She's really a smart girl... She just needed that extra push to get the discipline to study... The last semester really proved that she CAN study... I felt really happy for her coz she did way better than HL (boyfriend) and also surprised her parents...
This 3 years has been quite enriching... As I'm not some smart-arse (often get suan by neek for being stupid) or chow mugger (you guys know who you are... muahahahah!!!), I got to realize that I need to spend an extra huge amount of effort to get what I want... Sometimes I wished studying were as easy as playing the Euphonium... Haiz...
I still remembered how crappy my results were in the first year... I only had a pathetic GPA of 3.1... As much as I don't like to use GPA as a comparison, it does ironically summarize our overall effort in our studies... My pathetic GPA in year 1 made me realized that I was not contributing much to my projects and it took a toll on my final results no matter how hard I studied...
So in year 2 & 3, project became my main focus... I was the leader for almost all of the projects... I set datelines for my team mates and expect them to adhere to it... I scrutinized their process concurrently to prevent them from lazing around...(TIMO! I hope you are reading this!) I must say it was not easy working with Timo & GH... When they come together as one... Don't expect anything good coming out from them at that point of time... They are the worst combination you can ever find in a group... "Partners in Crime" is the word to describe them... Haha...
I was the super compulsive kiasu nagging person while they were the laid back last minute kind... They can facebook youtube gaming soccernet infront of me during project discussions... I swore I could have gave them a "neck submission" at the same time shouting, "PLAY AH PLAY AH! WATCH SOMEMORE! I MAKE SURE YOU PLAY IN HELL TOO!"... They couldn't meet my datelines most of time... Perhaps to them, my datelines were impossible to adhere to... Well... No excuses... If I can finish my piece of work with my always busy work and band schedules, I don't see why they can't... There were not-so-good times where I hit my boiling point and they had to face my wrath... Having said all this, they never fail to give me a decent piece of work at the end of the day... which is a good thing although last minute...
I think I digressed too much... Shall save the rest of my thoughts for graduation day... AND LASTLY...
3)Hopefuls who just wants to try their luck not knowing where they stand and later gets rejected by the university... Note that I'm implying to people who has really fucked up results...
The last one was kinda insulting... But its the fact... Face it!
